Based in New York City's East Village, The Interdependence Project is a grassroots, community-oriented non-profit organization. We offer weekly meditation classes, lectures and discussions inspired by the Buddhist philosophical tradition as well as other contemplative education systems, guest lecturers from a variety of backgrounds, workshops and retreats, community service and activism projects, monthly arts groups and seasonal arts shows, and an online multi-genre magazine (Sentient City). The ID Project is dedicated to teaching the insights of meditation techniques and applying the truth of interconnectedness to life in the 21st-century world.

Interdependent Arts
Bringing the insights of meditation training and Buddhist philosophy into our creative work, providing a forum for spiritual artists to share ideas and practice, and establishing connections with New York's broader artistic community.

Activism
Using meditation practice and compassionate organizing techniques to engage in issues of responsible consumption and ecology, peace movements, and community service through the lens of interdependence - that nothing exists in a vacuum.

Indifference pretends to create peace, but it is based on not caring, a silent resignation.
It is a movement away, a separation fed by a subtle fear of the heart. We pull back, believing that what happens to others is not our concern. Our courage leaves us.
Indifference is a misguided way of defending ourselves.
