David Nichtern has been a student of the Shambhala Buddhist tradition of Tibetan Buddhism since 1970. He studied closely with the founder of that lineage, Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche, who was one of the most prominent of the Tibetan meditation masters to bring Buddhism to the West.

David has been co-director of the LA Shambhala Center and Karme Choling Meditation Center in Vermont, as well as Director of Expansion for Shambhala Training International and a founding member of the Board of the NY Shambhala Center.

He is currently a senior teacher in that tradition and has worked closely with his wife, Cyndi Lee (world renowned yoga teacher and founder of the OM yoga center in NYC), to develop yoga/meditation workshops. Their DVD/CD package OM YOGA & MEDITATION WORKSHOP is widely available, and they teach together and apart around the world.
