As  consciousness arrives screaming from a womb,  it develops an ego - by collecting short  stories about its experiences. The ego then  relates to this story and calls it I, Me, Mine.

I, Me, Mine have a big influence on the body - the shape of it, how they relates to it, decorate it, ignore it, punish it -  you get the point!. What we'll look at this evening is how we can learn more about the mind by tuning into the body - making the body a terrific support for our inquiry on consciousness, and meditation practice.

Jill Satterfield, founder of Vajra Yoga & Meditation and the Social Action Teacher Training has been teaching yoga and Buddhism for over 20 years. She has been teaching Vajra Yoga with some of the most respected Buddhist teachers of our time including Mingyur Rinpoche, Ajahn Amaro, and Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche  amongst many others.

Jill is on the faculty of the Kripalu Institute's Integrative Leadership Program - teaching Vajra Yoga & Meditation to young adults,  and is a founding faculty member of the Spirit Rock Center's Yoga and Buddhism Teacher Training. Vajra Yoga has appeared in a host of magazines and newspapers - but what Jill considers her most exciting project is the Social Action Teacher Training (SATT) which trains aspiring teachers to skillfully and professionally  teach specific populations such as at-risk youth, young people and adults in recovery, and those living with chronic illnesses. Social Action Teacher Training is a practical vehicle to bring both yoga and meditation into the fabric of our culture and really make a difference.
